Why Hungarian Goose Down? Hungary has been known for its geese for centuries, however they only became industrialised in the last 50-60 years. There are around 5 million breeding geese in Hungary, with the females producing about 50 offspring per year. Hungary’s climate with harsh cold winters makes it the ideal place for geese to grow thick down and feather, which has a uniquely high quality in comparison with the rest of the world. The big difference between Hungarian geese and other geese is the size, Hungarian geese are approximately twice the size on average over other types of geese generally found in Asia. It’s because of this size that they are so popular as it makes for much larger down clusters and a higher filling power, making it the ideal fill to use in our bedding products. They are also a uniquely bright white colour as Hungary has a higher number of sunshine hours. Hungarian Down also has higher recovery power than other down.
